The last weekend in April was suppose to be the annual cleanup that the Eagle Creek Parks Director and Councillor McHenry plan for the Causeway over Eagle Creek Reservoir and 56th Street west of there. With rain falling and even some thunder being heard, Park Director Brittany Davis and Councillor Janice McHenry decided it was best to postpone the cleanup until the following weekend. Some volunteers did show up ready to work though. Nancy Baxter was one of those dedicated volunteers and she and Councillor McHenry had their picture taken.
Councillor McHenry and Eagle Creek Park Director Brittany Davis went to work right away getting the word out about a new date for this cleanup.
It worked! The next Saturday the weather ended up being nice and the volunteers started arriving.
The sun was bright as they started working their way across the north side of the Causeway.
There was definitely some interesting “trash” collected for proper disposal.
The next weekend actually brought two cleanups to the area. The first was “The Islands” neighborhood, who have for several years now been cleaning along Dandy Trail between the bridge over Eagle Creek and W. 34th Street. Many residents of the Islands, some other folks including Councillor McHenry, came out that morning to clean up the area. They had a Clermont Police officer to “calm traffic” and help keep them safe while everyone worked. Part of the group stopped long enough from working while Councillor McHenry took their picture.
The other cleanup that weekend was Eagle Creek Woods One and Two’s annual cleanup. For many years they have cleaned up the entire stretch of Reed Road from 46th Street to 56th Street, the greenway along there, and 56th Street from west of the park entrance to almost I – 465. Councillor McHenry joined them after helping with Dandy Trail, and after everyone was finished it was discovered that no one had taken pictures of the workers or the trash. So, a picture of the Reed Road street sign was taken to represent their clean up.
The following weekend the Town of Clermont took on the ditch as you enter their Town. Besides the trash, there was a lot of overgrowth that needed to be cut out so that the water would flow and the ditch could work properly. This ended up being a project that lasted more than one day.
Some of the volunteers had their picture taken at the end of the first day. You can see the difference in the first picture and this one on what was accomplished to that point.

The first clean up in Councillor McHenry’s district was on April 8th. This was “The Ridge” neighborhood and their annual clean up is W. 46th Street on the west side of the reservior and part of Raceway Road. While pictures of the actual work being done were not taken, Councillor McHenry did take a picture of many of the bags and items that were piled in one spot for later pickup.
The “Great Indy Cleanup” started in April with picking up supplies at KIB (Keep Indianapolis Beautiful). Councillor Zach Adamson was volunteering for KIB when Councillor Janice McHenry went to pick up supplies for a couple of cleanups in her district. The two of them decided to have a little fun.
