Supplies

Dear All,

The Fourth of July was just here, and “Back to School” is just around that next corner!  With schools starting the end of this month and the very beginning of next it is time to start thinking about school supplies.  Do you remember how excited you were to get that new box of crayons?  Or when you had that new notebook of paper and nice, new pencil to do your work with?  However, many boys and girls don’t always get to come to school with those items.  Either their parents cannot afford to purchase them, or they don’t realize the importance of these “tools” due to many other factors and don’t get them for their children.  This is where you can help give some boys and girls a good start and that excitement of having the school supplies they need.

We will be collecting school supplies again this year a Eagle Creek Park.  Starting on Saturday, July 14th, until Aug. 6th you may drop off supplies at either the 56th Street or 71st Street Gatehouse or at the Earth Discovery Center.  You do not have to enter the park to drop off supplies.  The Gatehouses are open from early morning until 9:00 p.m.  The supplies will then be distributed to schools that are either in our district or serve students who live in our district.

Stores are getting their supplies out – and many have some great deals on different supplies.  Hope you can be generous with a donation and help bring smiles to some students faces!

Sincerely,

Janice McHenry
City-County Councillor District 6
