INDOT (Indiana Department of Transportation) and from DPW (Department of Public Works)

Dear All,

I wanted to share with you information that I received from INDOT (Indiana Department of Transportation) and from DPW (Department of Public Works) about their preparation for the predicted snow fall in our area.  Just a reminder that INDOT is responsible for the interstates, which we have parts of three in our district – I-465, I-74, and I-65, as well as Crawfordsville Road and Rockville Road (which many of you use) outside of I-465.  Also, IN 134 (northern part of Girls School Road – just south of Crawfordsville Road) is an Indiana Road.  Since many of you use these routes I thought that you may be interested in the information from both departments.
DPW also offers some tips to help you stay safe.  Please be patient and drive with care while it is snowing and when the roads are slippery.  Stay out of the way of the snow plows as much as possible, remember they are doing their job and will be throwing snow as they push as well as putting down salt to help keep the roads melted.  It does take several hours to complete a route, so they will not be everywhere at once.  In the event the snow is falling rapidly it takes longer to clear the roads.  Be safe and careful if you have to be out and the snow is falling rapidly or the road still have snow on them or are wet.  Also, take care when clearing your driveways and sidewalks.

Don’t forget that Hendricks County is responsible for Raceway Road.  Also, Clermont and Speedway plow many of their streets and roads.  So a lot of different trucks will be out there.

Feel free to pass this information on to others who may be interested.  Hope this is helpful as you make plans to be out and about.

Sincerely,

Janice McHenry

City-County Councillor District 6
