Eagle Creek Park

Dear All,

The days are beginning to get longer and we are all anxious for spring to get here (even the spring flowers seem to be getting impatient as their leaves are coming up).  Though it is still officially winter, there is plenty to do at Eagle Creek Park.  Attached is the March calendar for Eagle Creek Park and descriptions of the activities and events going on.

On March 2nd will be the Polar Plunge.  This event raises money for the training and competition for the more than 16,000 Special Olympics Indiana Athletes.  It will be from 8 a.m. – noon at the beach area, so anticipate a lot of extra traffic during that time in and around the park.  For more information, please see the attachment.

Have you ever been to the annual Woodcarvers and Woodburners Show?  If not, it is well worth checking out.  These artists will have on display a wide range of wood items for you to admire and also items you may purchase.  They will be doing demonstrations as well and there will be a Children’s Area where boys and girls may make their own carving from soap.  This will be taking place on both Saturday, March 8th, and Sunday, March 9th, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Earth Discovery Center (EDC).  It is free with your park admission.  More information is on the attachment.

If you have students who would like to go to summer camp at Eagle Creek Park, they do have quite a few different programs.  To learn more about summer camp programs or the register go to www.indyparks.org.  These do fill up fast, so take time to check them before it is too late.

Hope you will be able to enjoy our park soon and often.  Please share this information with others who may not know about all the things going on so close to home.

Sincerely,

Janice McHenry

City-County Councillor District6
