The plans are to start working on resurfacing

Dear All,
The plans are to start working on resurfacing Crawfordsville Road from Cunningham Road (stop light at the Speedway Shopping Center by Arby’s) to Auburn Street (last stoplight heading east before the round-about) and 16th Street from Poco Street (by the track) to Lafayette Road on Monday.  The Monday start date does depend on the weather.  While the streets will not be closed, there will be lane closures and traffic will be slowed.  Please keep this in mind if you travel this way.  See below for more details.

I have also attached information from INDOT for the construction work that will be taking place this weekend on I – 465, I – 65, and I – 70 throughout Marion County.  Please note that several of these do have ramps closed and all lanes closed.  The one that will affect us the most is the ramps will be closed on and off of I – 65 from Lafayette Road.

Please feel free to share this information with others who may be affected.  This information is not just for District 6, but is for drivers who travel through Speedway and on 16th Street as well as the interstates.

Sincerely,

Janice McHenry

City-County Councillor District 6

UPCOMING CONSTRUCTION ON CRAWFORDSVILLE ROAD AND 16TH STREET

INDIANAPOLIS—The Indianapolis Department of Public Works (DPW) today announced the upcoming start to resurfacing work on two of Indy’s westside thoroughfares. Lane restrictions on Crawfordsville Road (from Cunningham Road to Auburn Street) and 16th Street (from Polco Street to Lafayette Road) will begin on June 10, weather permitting.

These are the first two segments of DPW project ST-19-106, a $6.5 million construction project to resurface 19.4 lane miles of asphalt street. The project also includes a segment of Kessler Boulevard N Drive (from 16th Street to Lafayette Road), scheduled to begin later this summer.

While the construction contract period runs through October 2019, there will be no full closure along any of the impacted street segments. However, motorists should anticipate temporary lane closures during this period, and should exercise caution around construction equipment and workers.

This project work comes as a part of the $400 million infrastructure plan over the next four years to rehabilitate bridges, rebuild roads and increase pedestrian safety. The plan was passed unanimously by the City-County Council and outlines planned projects for Indianapolis through 2022.
