There is a community meeting coming up, primarily for those of you who live in Wayne Township, to have the chance to learn more about “Operation Night Light” as it starts moving south and is going into the southern part of our district. “Operation Night Light” is converting City-funded street lights to more efficient LED technology. IPL (Indianapolis Power and Light) is retrofitting about 27,000 existing streetlights through spring of 2021. The savings from this LED technology is being used to install up to 4,000 new streetlights throughout Marion County. This meeting will be on:
Monday, December 9th
Starting at 6:00 p.m.
Wayne Township Government Center
5401 West Washington Street (west of Lynhurst and inside I – 465)
Please see the attached flyer for more information, including how to request a new street light. This meeting will be a great opportunity to learn more about this program, the benefits of LED Streetlights (not only just for the savings), ask questions that you may have, and find out how you can request a new street light for a location that you feel would benefit our community. Those putting on these meetings said the meetings are not well attended, so lets show them what a great group of interested residents we have in District 6! Hope many of you will be able to attend, especially those of you who do live in Wayne Township, for which this meeting is designed. During the last several weeks IPL has already been converting Indianapolis-paid streetlights in Wayne Township. There are four that are anticipated to be installed withing the next eight weeks that border our district. They are located in the 6800 – 7100 blocks of W. 34th Street. I have attached a map that the City has shared with me showing where street lights have already been installed and where they have been approved to be installed. Do check it out.
Again, hopefully many of you will be able to attend the meeting on Monday, December 9th at 6 p.m. at the Wayne Township Government Center, located at 5401 W. Washington Street. Please feel free to forward this information on to others, not only in your neighborhood and our district, but especially throughout Wayne Township.
