“Coffee With a Cop” is Tuesday, December 17th

Dear All,

The next “Coffee With a Cop” is Tuesday, December 17th, from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at the McDonald’s located 4545 W. 38th Street.  This is just west of Lafayette Road on the south side of 38th Street.  If you have not attended one of these informal meetings with the Commander, officers, and others from IMPD’s Northwest District, this would be a great time to do so.  It is a terrific opportunity for you to get to know some of our men and women who work so hard for us each and every day.  It is also a chance for you to talk to them about concerns you may have in your own neighborhood about crime.  I do hope that many of you will be able to attend.  You do not have to stay for the entire hour, just stopping by for a few minutes and saying “Hello” really does mean a lot to them.  Let’s have a great turnout and show how much we do appreciate our Northwest District IMPD.  I have attached a flyer that you may also share with others.

It is 12 days until Christmas and IMPD has put together a flyer with safety tips for this time of year called “12 Days of Awareness”.  There always seems to be a lot more people out there committing crimes this time of year.  They expect us to be more careless, be distracted, and there are more crowds where they are not as easily seen.  Please read over these safety tips and try to follow them as much as you can.  Remember – criminals can be anywhere.  They are not just in stores, parking lots, and other out in the open public places.  They can be in theaters, at plays, in beauty shops, anywhere where people are.  Just because it cost quite a bit to go to a play or other entertainment venue, don’t think that criminals cannot purchase tickets, too.  A price of a ticket when they steal a billfold is small when they get cash and credit cards that are used before they are discovered.  Be aware and make sure you report suspicious activity or any crimes.  Feel free to forward this information on to others or print it off and post it on a bulletin board at work or church.  Help your friends, neighbors, and co-workers be aware of these tips as well.

Have a great weekend, take care when you are out and about, and hope to see many of you at “Coffee With a Cop” on Tuesday morning.

Sincerely,

Janice McHenry

City-County Councillor District 6
