INDY DPW TO HOST “RAPID HIRING” EVENT, EXTENDING JOB OFFERS FOR CDL POSITIONS AND MECHANICS TO START WORK NOVEMBER 1
INDIANAPOLIS— The Indianapolis Department of Public Works (Indy DPW) today announced it will host a “rapid hiring” event on October 19 from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. to interview individuals on the spot for many positions, targeting CDL-holders and mechanics. The event will take place at the Garfield Park Family Center, 2345 Pagoda Drive.
After interviewing applicants at the event on Tuesday, October 19, Indy DPW intends to make job offers to individuals by Wednesday, October 20 so new hires may begin work by Monday, November 1.
Indy DPW currently has up to 50 open positions, most—but not all—requiring a CDL license. Some of the open positions include:
Maintenance Operation Technician
Heavy Equipment Operator
Heavy Equipment Technician
Refuse Collection Driver
Indy DPW and Human Resources representatives will staff Tuesday’s event to assist individuals throughout the application process and answer any questions about open positions. Offers will be contingent on passing a background check, human performance evaluation, and drug test. Individuals holding a CDL who are interested in a full-time job that allows them to make a difference in their community are encouraged to attend.
Divisions within Indy DPW that will be looking to hire employees at this event include solid waste, operations, and fleet services. The minimum starting rate for positions is $21.30/hour with many positions offering a higher rate. Benefits packages also include paid time off and full health benefits.
