City County Council Committee Meetings

Dear All,

I am forwarding you the agenda’s for our City County Council Committee Meetings for this week.  There are two items that may be of interest to some of you, especially those who live close to Eagle Creek Park or had used the Gun Range on weekends (the police use it for training during the week).

The one pertaining to the Firing Range is Proposal No. 158 – amends the Code to add a provision requiring firing ranges maintained by IMPD to be made available for use by the public.  This will be heard in the Public Safety and Criminal Justice Committee on Wednesday, April 20th, at 5:30 p.m. in Room 260 of the City-County Building.

The second is a Presentation by the Department of Public Works.  There will be three presentations that evening, one is Eagle Creek Deer Remediation.  This will be presented (no vote) to the Public Works Committee on Thursday, April 21st, at 5:30 p.m. in Room 260 of the City-County Building.

Last Thursday there were four Presentations by the Parks Department at the Parks and Recreation Committee Meeting.  The first was from the Parks Foundation, the second on the Deer Remediation at Eagle Creek Park, the third having to do with forestry and the problems with the Emerald Ash Borer, and the fourth concerning updates on projects/improvements going on at Eagle Creek Park.  I would have let everyone know about those, as I am sure that many of you would have been interested in one or more of those presentations.  However, the agenda for this meeting that was sent out to me did not have anything about Presentations, only two reappointments to Boards.  Even when I got to my desk, the new agenda only mentioned “Presentation by Parks Department”:  still no mention of what they would be.  I knew nothing of these presentations in advance.  If I would have seen this ahead of time, I would have asked what the presentations were, and as they did pertain to those of us in District 6, I would have let you know.

Hope to see some of you this week at one or both of these Committee Meetings.

Sincerely,

Janice McHenry
City-County Councillor District 6
