Dandy Trail at the bridge over Eagle Creek

Dear All,

Late Wednesday afternoon was an exciting time on Dandy Trail at the bridge over Eagle Creek.  After months of work and waiting, a ribbon was cut and now it is open once again for traffic!  This is going to be such a huge improvement for the 25,000 cars that go over this bridge every day.

We all know how many years we have waited to have this bridge replaced, and how many calls were made to the Mayor’s Action Center for potholes and chunks of concrete and fill that created safety issues.  We now have a smooth surface, as well as an area that makes it safe for pedestrians and bikes to cross.  We all really appreciate those who have worked hard to make our new bridge here a reality.  A big thanks to all of the residents in the area who came out today to watch and also the news media that covered this.

Sincerely,

Janice McHenry

City-County Councillor District 6

P.S.  I thought you may enjoy some of the pictures that were taken.  I have included the ribbon cutting (DPW Director Dan Parker and Island resident Lee Stichter were the other two who cut the ribbon with me), driving across the bridge, bikes and pedestrians crossing the bridge in their separate area, and the last two showing some of the people, workers, and news media who were there to celebrate.
