There are four events coming up over the next few weeks with our Northwest District IMPD. Two of them are for children and their families, the other two are the monthly “Coffee With a Cop” and Task Force Meeting.
The first is “IMPD Youth Bike Safety Rally” this coming Wednesday, June 12th, from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at The Blended Church, which is located 2215 Country Club Road (just north of 21st Street on the east side of Country Club Road). This is sponsored with the church and has been held there the past several years. Children need to bring their bicycle and helmet. Please see the attached flyer for more details.
The second is “Coffee With a Cop”. This month it will be held at Einstein Bagels on Tuesday, June 18th, from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. The address for Einstein Bagels is 3450 W. 86th Street. It is just east of Michigan Road and west of Purdue Road on the north side of 86th Street. Even though it is north and east of our District 6, I do hope that many of you will be able to attend. Great opportunity to talk one on one with the officers and Commander. The attached flyer gives more information.
The next is another event for the boys and girls, IMPD Northwest District Bike Rodeo. This is being held at Northwest Middle School located 5525 W. 34th Street (southwest corner of 34th Street and Moller Road) from 1:00 p.m. – 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20th. The participates need to bring their bike and helmet as well as an adult with them. The flyer that is attached does tell you more about this event.
Last is the next Task Force Meeting. These are always held the first Wednesday of the month from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at IMPD Northwest District Headquarters, which is at 3821 Industrial Blvd. (north off of 38th Street and east of Lafayette Road). The July 3rd meeting is one I think a lot of you will have an interest. The topic is “Online mapping of crime data for your neighborhood”. While I send out a monthly crime report to my email list for our district, I know that many of you would like to follow your neighborhood closer. This meeting will help you in being able to get that information yourself. There are more details on the attached flyer.
Hope to see many of you at one or more of these events. Please feel free to forward this information to others, not just in our District 6, but throughout the IMPD Northwest District area. Help IMPD spread the word about these. I am sure they would appreciate it.
