Dear All,
Memorial Day Weekend has always been a favorite of mine – why? – because it is the beginning of summer and outdoor swimming pools open, there are lots of things to do outside, and the days are longer so we can enjoy! Indy Parks has a lot going on this summer as well. The outdoor pools are starting their season, and I have attached the the schedule for them. We are lucky to have four facilities close to our district: Krannert, Northwestway, Gustafson, and Thatcher, as well as for those of you who like swimming in a lake – Eagle Creek Beach. The Spray Parks are opening and they are free! We have one just north of the eastern part of our district – Bowman Park, which is just north of 34th Street on Auburn behind the school and another one that is close and very visible from Lafayette Road just north of 16th Street at Municipal Gardens. There are many others around the county – they are all a different, so check them out! See the attachment on the Spray Parks which includes addresses for them.
Also, many of our Indy Parks will have music this summer, and what a variety they have for musical interests of many types. Eagle Creek Park will have their Jazz and Concerts with Nature series, and while the schedule is on the full sheet, I will be sending out additional information on these. You do need to pay for park admission of $5 per car for Eagle Creek (unless you have an Eagle Creek Park Pass), but the rest are free unless noted. I have always enjoyed some of the events at Garfield Park at both the MacAllister Amphitheater and the Sunken Gardens (and the fountains there are worth the trip!). Holiday Park is a fun place to go and not real far away, and do you like listening to the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra outside? Why drive to Conner Prairie when you can see them either at Garfield Park or Ellenberger Park? Just check out the attachment for your listening pleasure!
