Last look at Christmas 2017-Happy New Year 2018

Outside at the Indiana State Fairgrounds is a truly beautiful display that makes up the Chinese Lantern Festival.  After purchasing your ticket walk through the covered bridge……

Soon you will come upon this long dragon.

A scene from “Under the Sea”, look at all the beautiful colors!

Penguins found their way here in the way of these lanterns.

And right now I am sure we all are wishing that tulips were really popping up around our homes.

The Chinese Lantern Festival will be running through January 7th starting at 5:30 in the evenings.  While it is cold walking through, it is certainly a wonderful display of creative Chinese Lanterns.

An inside seasonal display is at the Indiana History Center – The Festival of Trees – which runs through January 6th.  From the traditional trees like this one out of “A Christmas Story”,

The the creativity of using a ladder,

Or how about one made out of medal?

Make sure you walk through this 30 foot tall tree in Eli Lilly Hall.  There are 80 themed trees on 4 levels.  So go and enjoy, and maybe you will get some ideas for your own decorating for next year!

If you don’t want to leave the comfort of your warm car to see the lights – visit our Indianapolis Motor Speedway!  However, the last evening is Dec. 30th.

Driving on the track looks strange with lights instead of people in the stands.

The Pagoda is transformed into a Christmas Tree.

The “Pole” is displaying falling snow.

We cheer on “Team USA” in the upcoming Winter Olympics.

Drive through a “tunnel” in the garage area.

And we appreciate the thoughtfulness of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in remembering Jim Nabors, who many of us will never forget him singing “Back Home Again In Indiana” before the race.

Another amazing light display is at Newfields (formerly known as Indianapolis Art Museum).  It is like walking through a Winter Wonderland.

Watching the lights change to music outside of the Lilly House is enchanting,

As well as looking at the Lilly House itself.

And the inside of the Lilly House is all decked out for the holidays.

It is an experience you won’t soon forget.

Newfields is open through January 7th, with the best price for tickets being online.
