Work will be continuing on the interstates over the weekend.

Dear All,
Work will be continuing on the interstates over the weekend.  Below is information from INDOT (Indiana Department of Transportation) with a map.  A lot of work will be occurring on the north side of I – 465, especially traveling west bound.  If you are traveling into or out of Indianapolis on I – 65 be aware that from 30th Street to I – 465 will be one lane in both directions.  I would avoid going that way if at all possible.  There are other ways to get downtown from our area and not take I – 65.
If you do have to travel through construction areas allow for extra time as well as remember to watch for sudden stops, drivers, and equipment as well as workers.  Remember, too, that the roads that people will be taking to avoid traveling on the interstates will have more traffic.  Plan accordingly.

Sincerely,

Janice McHenry

Weekend Work: Construction Around Marion County

October 25-28

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Transportation is releasing this weekend’s construction outlook.

Crews will continue resurfacing, strengthening bridges and extending the life of roadways.

Maintenance crews will also be out working to repair barrier wall, guardrails, clearing drains and fixing lights.

There will be at least five active work zones through the weekend. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and find an alternate route. They are also reminded to watch for slow vehicles and leave plenty of time to slow down before a construction zone.

Indiana State Police and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department will be patrolling work zones and ticketing drivers for speeding and reckless/distracted driving.  INDOT crews and Hoosier Helpers will be present on the interstates to make sure drivers are aware of slowing traffic and upcoming work zones.

Construction work is weather dependent in some cases.
