“State of the Town”

The 2020 “State of the Town” was held on Tuesday at the Speedway United Methodist Church to a full room.  The Speedway Police and Fire Honor Guard started things off with the presenting of the colors.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway President Doug Boles was one of several speakers.  He informed us about events that will be happening this year at IMS as well as told us some great related personal stories.

The 2020 Speedway Town Council President looked to the future by talking about the year ahead.  He was also the final speaker and gave the closing.

After the program there was time to talk at a couple of special booths that were set up.  One had to do with the fascinating Foreign Exchange Program that Speedway High School has with Motegi, Japan.

The second booth was the Speedway Trails Association, which in May had received a check for almost five million dollars for the B&O Trail.  This will extend the trail both east and some to the west of Speedway.  The western part will include the bridge over Eagle Creek by the old Westwood Country Club.
