Dear All,
Did you know that March 2nd is Dr. Seuss’s birthday? In honor of Theodor Seuss Geisel, schools, libraries, and many other places for reading and books will be celebrating “Read Across America Day” around what would be his 115th birthday (born 1904). On Wednesday, March 18th, the Eagle Library is celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday with both a children/family program and a teen program. Both require pre-registration.
Frogtime, a preschool program, is going to be at both Eagle and Pike Libraries this month. Help your 2 – 6 year old learn more about these amphibians with puppets, stories, and songs from Professor Watermelon. The program will be presented at Pike on March 12th and at Eagle on March 17th.
Do you want to attract monarch butterflies to your garden? Pike Library is having a Starting Milkweed Program. Monarch butterflies only lay their eggs on a milkweed leaf, so plant some in your garden and watch for caterpillars to hatch and munch on the leaves. Come learn more about starting a garden for pollinators and take home some milkweed seeds on Sunday, March 8th.
More about these programs and many other activities going on at the library are on the attached calendars. Check them out!
Not leaving out Wayne Library, which is currently closed for renovation (watch for their reopening late in the spring), I did want to include something for them as well. The attached picture is of Melinda Mullican, Wayne’s Branch Manager, and Jackie Nytes, Indianapolis Public Libraries CEO at the recent “Love Your Library Tour” that was held at the Ben Davis High School Career Center. It was a very informative and enjoyable evening as Jackie Nytes told us about our libraries and listened to those in attendance about their thoughts concerning our libraries.
Hope you will take advantage of what our libraries have to offer in their programing and other opportunities. Take time to read!
Sincerely,
Janice McHenry
