Although summer looks a lot different this year in Speedway, Indiana, the parks department is bringing some fun to its residence in July.
Held at the iconic Ziegelmueller Pavilion (Gazebo) in Meadowood Park, the Speedway Summer Concert Series is an annual tradition. “We are disappointed that we haven’t been able to host our typical summer programs this year due to the pandemic, but we are excited that we can still hold our summer concert series while allowing families to stay physically distant around the Gazebo!” stated Speedway Parks Director, Tammy Smith. “This is a great opportunity to get out and enjoy some fresh air, bring your own picnic, and safely relax while listening to some great bands.”
This year’s concert series kicks off on Thursday, July 9th at 7:00 p.m.
All concerts are free to attend and will take place from 7:00pm to 9:00pm on Thursday evenings in July starting the 9
th. Lawn chairs, blankets, and picnics are encouraged. Due to COVID-19 concerns, Speedway Parks asks that families social distance from one another whenever possible. Attendance will be capped depending upon the current public health orders in Marion County. Please wash your hands frequently, stay home if you’re sick, and be respectful of other parkgoers space. Restrooms will be open, but it is suggested you bring hand sanitizer as well. Please be advised that water fountains and playgrounds may remain closed in July, depending on the orders from the Mayor. Check the
Speedway Parks & Recreation Facebook page for other important updates prior to the concert. As a reminder, the Center for Disease Control still suggests wearing a mask or face covering when in public.
