Happy Flag Day

Happy Flag Day

Dear All,

Happy Flag Day! I know most of you have seen this from me before, but since we do not see a lot about Flag Day, I feel it is always worth repeating. Our flag has meant so much from the early days of our country. Remember how Frances Scott Key was inspired to write The Star Spangled Banner as he watched for the 15 stars and 15 stripes to still be flying in the dawn over Fort McHenry. Think of all the battles the flag has been carried into throughout our Country’s history. What an exciting time it was when our astronauts placed it on the moon! How many of us started our school day by saying the pledge, and still do at the beginning of many meetings. We see it proudly flying on poles in front of and on buildings all over our Country. Many of us fly it in front of our homes. Marching units carry it in parades. As you go about your day, take time to pause for a moment to think about what the flag means to you and to our Country. Think about those who have fought proudly to defend it. Say the pledge and think of its meaning, if only silently to yourself. Again, Happy Flag Day!

Sincerely,

Janice McHenry

P.S. I have attached a History of Flag Day. I hope you find it as interesting as I did when looking it up and putting this together to share.
