Dear All,

Just wanted to send out information about mosquitoes as well as some reminders of things that are going in the next couple of weeks:

Mosquitoes – Attached is a brochure from the Marion County Health Department with information about mosquitoes and how to help keep them from breeding.  It also gives the number you should call to have the area around your home sprayed (317-221-7440) if you have noticed mosquitoes in and around your neighborhood.

School Supplies – I want to thank those of you who have donated school supplies at Eagle Creek Park’s gatehouses or the Earth Discovery Center so far.  There is still time to make a donation, so next time you are at a store, please pick up a few supplies so that children who are in need will receive the “tools” that help them do their work in school.  Attachment does have a list of supplies.  These are donated directly to the Principal at the schools in our district/area and then given to the boys and girls who truly need them.  You would be surprised at how many students come to school without the items they need.  Together we can get these children off to a good start!

National Night Out – Tuesday, August 1st, is this year’s National Night Out Against Crime.  I have heard from several neighborhoods about their get-togethers this year, and hopefully will be hearing from others soon.  If you are planning on having an event, please make sure it is registered with our Crime Watch Specialist, Kim Taylor.  Her contact information is Kim.Taylor@indy.gov or 317-327-6572.  Also, a registration form is attached.  She will then let the IMPD Northwest District Officers know about your event and some of them will try to stop by and introduce themselves.  If you have not planned anything yet, or registered your neighborhood or block, it is not too late.  Do register by July 28th, though.

Flap-Jacks 5K – Saturday, August 5th is the second “Flap-Jacks 5K Run/Walk” to raise money for the B&O Trail.  A good portion of this trail will be going through the southern part of our district and will help with the connectivity from Raceway Road to Speedway when finished.  The registration fee goes up in just a few days – so sign up over the weekend if you are interested at:  http://racemaker.org/event/flap-jackes-5k/.  There is more info on the website and the attachment.

I hope that the above is helpful and that I will see many of you soon at one of the three events mentioned above.  Please feel free to pass any or all of the information on to others who may be interested.

Sincerely,

Janice McHenry
