Crime report for June 2017

Dear All,

Attached is the monthly Crime Report for our District in June.  We still seem to have areas that are much more prone to crimes than others in the District.  Wouldn’t it be great if we could reduce crime in the entire district?  Remember, you can help in many areas by being pro-active in your behavior by following the many tips that are given to help be less likely of being a victim.

One thing that did happen last month, outgoing mail was stolen again from at least one mailbox.  Please do not place checks or anything with your personal information in your mailbox for the mailperson to pickup.  Those who would like to steal your information and use it can go through a neighborhood, see the flag up, and take things out of the mailbox.  Unless they are seen, you may not even know it happens until someone did not get your check or someone tries to use your personal information.  Several weeks could pass and a lot of damage can be done.  Just a word of caution.  While it may take you out of your way to go by a post office or mailbox, the headaches and inconvenience that losing your outgoing mail is well worth it.

Please remember to call 911 when you see or hear something that does not seem right to you or your neighborhood.  Never hesitate calling 911 when something is happening.  If you discover something has already happened and you are sure it has been a while since it occurred, then call the non-emergency number to file a report at 317-327-3811.  A lot of times reports are not filed, especially with vehicle larcenies.  The police need this information so they can see if there is a pattern, track where things are going on, possibly patrol an area more, and it my help them in the long run find the person or persons who did it.  So, always – if you see something – say something – call 911.  Please make sure to report any crime that has been committed.

Sincerely,

Janice McHenry
City-County Councillor District 6

P.S.  There will be no Task Force Meeting in August due to National Night Out being on Tuesday, Aug. 2nd.  I’ll let you know when and where the next one will be.
