Dear All,
November is here, where did October go? Attached is the Eagle Creek Park Calendar for this month. There are a lot of reoccurring and November programs designed to be of interest from our very youngest nature lovers through the adults. Check them out as well as the “Did you Know?” about turkeys. I found that quite interesting and learned a couple of things about this bird who is very popular this time of year that I did not already know.
Please note that the Earth Discovery Center (EDC) and Ornithology Center (OC) will be closed on Saturday, Nov. 11th, in honor of Veterans’ Day and also on Thursday, Nov. 23rd, and Friday, Nov. 24th, for Thanksgiving. The park itself will still be open those three days.
Also, the gates are now closing at 6:30 p.m. This time starts today.
The fall leaves are still gorgeous with a lot of varied colors. A great spot to enjoy this beauty is at Lilly Lake, but no matter where you are in the park, autumn’s colors are around you. I have attached a very informative sheet about what makes leaves change colors and why to the colors they do. Hope you enjoy reading it.
While the forecast for the next few days may not be the weather to enjoy being out-of-doors and the beauty of the trees, there is still plenty to see and experience inside the Earth Discovery Center or the Ornithology Center, and it won’t be rainy forever. So get out and enjoy our jewel of a park at Eagle Creek Park – as no matter what the weather, it is always a terrific place to be!
Sincerely,
