This week the last of the 1st round of the Park Comprehensive Plan Public Meetings will be held. I attended the one last week at Krannert Park and was pleased at the number of people who were in attendance and interacted with discussions and participation. We have another meeting close to us on Tuesday, March 10th, at the Pike Township Small Claims Court, located at 5665 Lafayette Road from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. I hope that many more of you will be able to make this one, and that we have an even larger group of people who voice what they would like to see in the future at our Indianapolis Parks.
This is your opportunity to talk with those who will be forming a plan for what improvements will be made for our park system. Are there programs you would like to see offered? What are your priorities for how our dollars are spent? Do you have ideas on how we can “stretch our money further”? Let your voice be heard.
You do not have to attend the one closest to you, if that does not work into your schedule. There are 5 meetings this week, and you may attend any of them. They are:
Monday – March 9th – 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. – Warren Township – World Sports Park – 1313 S. Post Road &
Lawrence Township – Sterrett Center – 8950 Otis Ave.
Tuesday – March 10th – 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. – Pike Township – Pike Township Small Claims Court – 5665 Lafayette Road (north east corner of 56th Street and Lafayette Road behind the gas station)
Wednesday – March 11th – 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Center Township – Old City Hall – 202 N. Alabama &
6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. – Center/Perry Township – Garfield Park Burello Family Center – 2345 Pagoda Drive
You may get more information about this plan as well as make comments if you cannot attend a meeting by going to www.planindyparks.com & www.planindyparks.org.
Hope to see many of you Tuesday night.
Sincerely,
Janice McHenry
