Dear All,
It is time for my next Town Hall Meeting. I have asked our Indianapolis Department of Public Works Director Dan Parker to by our guest speaker for this meeting on Saturday, March 24th, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at Flanner and Buchanan Community Center located at 2950 N. High School Road. We all know the very difficult winter we have had with this year having more than 34 days where the temperature has been above and below freezing in 24 hours and the potholes that have developed. But there is so much more to DPW than putting asphalt into the pot holes and doing the strip patching that has been going on. This is a great opportunity for you to hear Director Parker and learn more about other things that DPW does, the challenges that they are facing, and how they are working to do what is best for our City with limited resources. Other information about my Town Hall Meeting is below.
I also want to remind everyone that “The Great Indy Cleanup” is in April. I have only noticed two cleanups that are registered so far in our district with KIB (Keep Indianapolis Beautiful). We have a terrific district, and I know that some of you work on a regular basis to make sure the area around your neighborhoods is clean; however, this is a great time to bring your neighbors together and concentrate on making sure that areas around your neighborhood are picked up. This could be the common property or road that your neighborhood is along, the area across the street from your neighborhood that is not being maintained, a bridge, nearby park, etc. I hope that many more neighborhoods will sign up over the next couple of weeks. For more details or to register your cleanup through KIB (and receive supplies) go to www.greatindycleanup.com or contact Allie Kast at akast@kibi.org or 317-264-7555, ext. 116. The date for our area is April 7th, but you do not have to have your cleanup on that day. Let’s see if together we can make District 6 the cleanest in the County and set an example for others.
The cleanup of the causeway and West 56th Street will be on Saturday, April 28th, from 9:00 a.m. – noon. We will be meeting again at the Eagle Creek Park Office. More details on that event will be forthcoming, but please save the date and hope to have the best turnout ever!
Please forward this information on to others who live in our district and may not be on our email list. That would be a huge help. Also, I could use help in passing out information cards in neighborhoods about the Town Hall Meeting. If you would be able to pass out cards to your neighborhood or even part of your neighborhood, please let me know and I can get you the cards. Any help that you can give in spreading the word is greatly appreciated and extremely helpful.
Sincerely,
City-County Councillor District 6
