Happy Easter

Happy Easter!

Dear All,

The trees really are starting to bud and it won’t be long now before we will start seeing the beauty of spring coming out throughout Eagle Creek Park.  Hope you enjoy the two pictures that I took on entirely different days last week, which I have attached.  I was really fascinated by the creativity and “recycling” that someone(s) did, and the contrast of taking the picture first before the snow storm and then during last weekend’s snow, that I felt was worth sharing.  Next time you are in the park, look for this “deer”.  He is close to the ornithology center.  Visiting the park is always a treat, and the attached calendar lets you know of some activities that you and your family may want to take advantage of to learn and enjoy nature more.  Eagle Creek Outfitters also opens next month (April), as does Go Ape.  The Arbor Day Celebration is April 28th lasting until 4 p.m. – so drop by after the cleanup and check that out!  Visit the park soon and often to enjoy the wonder of spring!

I have also attached information about two cleanups in our area that can use volunteers.  The first is tomorrow (Saturday, March 31st) from 9 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. meeting at Saint Gabriel’s Church.  This cleanup is concentrating on 34th Street between Moller Road and High School Road.  They are meeting at the church (which is across from Faculty Park), located at 6000 W. 34th Street, and seem to be planning a lot of sprucing up in that area.  I know they would appreciate extra hands.

The second is the flyer for our annual Causeway and 56th Street cleanup.  This year it will be on Saturday, April 28th, starting at 9:00 and working until noon.  We will be meeting at the park office (white house on west side of reservoir) and moving on from there.  Please do mark this on your calendar and come out and help get this stretch of road cleaned up.  We would like to have as many volunteers as possible that day.  You can also check out while working where the new greenway trail is going through that will connect the west side of the reservoir (and park) to the east side by these trails.

Have a great weekend and enjoy this truly special and wonderful time of year!

Sincerely,

Janice McHenry
City-County Councillor District 6
