Dear All,
I thought I would forward the information below to you from INDOT. Many of you probably discovered, as I did, during the time that the eastbound I – 465 lanes on the southwest side were closed, it did affect traffic on I-65, I-70, and I-465 on the north side, as well as other streets that feed into these interstates. I wanted you to be aware of the timeline for the westbound lanes so you can plan accordingly and know that traffic will be affected. Hope this information is helpful.
Please share this information with others, not only in our district, but throughout the area and those who may be traveling on the interstates and be slowed or delayed. Thanks for your help in keeping people informed.
Sincerely,
Janice McHenry
City-County Councillor District 6
All Eastbound I-465 Lanes, Entrance Ramps Reopen on Indianapolis Southwest SideFirst phase of $10 million repair project completed more than two days early INDIANAPOLIS – All lanes of eastbound I-465 and entrance ramps at U.S. 31 (East St.), State Road 37 (Harding St.), Mann Rd., State Road 67 (Kentucky Ave.), and I-70 have reopened as work wraps up on the first phase of a $10 million rehabilitation project on Indianapolis’ southwest side. “I’m thrilled to reopen eastbound I-465 to motorists more than two days earlier than anticipated,” INDOT Commissioner Joe McGuinness said. “I want to thank our partners at Rieth-Riley Construction for their tireless efforts to deliver the first phase of this project well ahead of schedule. We set an aggressive schedule and put forth an ambitious scope of work. I’m proud to say that the entire project team delivered an outstanding effort for Hoosier taxpayers.” Work completed on eastbound I-465 includes:
INDOT reminds motorists that I-465 westbound will close between I-65 and I-70 on the southwest side at 9 p.m. on Friday, September 28 for the second phase of this project and reopen on or before Monday, October 8 at 5 a.m. I-65 and I-70 will serve as the detour route for westbound I-465 during the closure. The closure expedites the work needed to be completed and eliminates maintaining traffic during this significant project, which would take up to several months to complete with motorists driving through the work zone.
