October Crime Report

Dear All,

Attached is the October Crime Report for our district.  We are doing a good job of having less crime than the last two years at this time.  In October we had 91 incidents.  October of last year there were 109, and in 2016 October had 108.  At the end of October we had 867 for the year, last year was 887 and the year before 1,000.  So we have been going down overall, which is good news.  Do we have a lot more to do?  I am sure all of you will agree with me the answer to this is “YES!”  I want to encourage everyone to remain pro-active when you are at home, in a parking lot, in a park, at stores, etc.  Also, make sure that you report all crimes and call 911 when you see something that does not seem right to you (or hear something).

Also attached is the IMPD Holiday Shopping Safety Tips.  Please review these, as they serve as a great reminder of how to keep yourself and your vehicle safer from crime.

Remember – always lock your vehicle and never leave anything in it of value, especially where it can be seen.  Don’t make it easy for a would be theft to get into your car or truck and steal something or even take off with your vehicle.  This includes not only in all parking lots (work, school, stores, etc.), but also when parking on the street or in your driveway.

Let’s all be extra careful this Holiday Season, when we are out and about or at home.  Please feel free to pass this information on or post it on neighborhood web sites, as there are a lot of people who may not receive it without your help.  Have a very safe and happy Holiday Season.

Sincerely,

Janice McHenry
City-County Councillor District 6
