School Drive

Dear All,

There is still going to be an annual “Back to School Supply Drive” this year.  We are starting later (as have the schools) due to logistics of how to carry off our “Back to School Supply Drive” with COVID-19.  Eagle Creek Park is still partnering with me by allowing us to have drop off locations at the park.  This year there will be two places you may donate supplies – the Earth Discovery Center inside the park which is open Monday – Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and the Eagle Creek Park Office located 7840 W. 56th Street (the white house that sits on the north side of 56th street on the east side of the reservoir) which is open Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  You do not need to go into the park to drop supplies off at the Park Office.  There are marked boxes just inside at both locations where you can place items.  The Gate Houses can not accept items this year.  We will be collecting supplies until September 23rd.

One of the superintendents told me that the need is even greater this year.  Something else that I imagine will be different this year will be children being able to share supplies or borrow from others as has been done in the past.  So as children move to a new school or supplies get lost or used up there is a greater need throughout the year for replacement supplies as well.  I do hope that you will purchase a few items over the weekend and drop them off next week.  Please be generous with getting some supplies while you are at a store.  There are still some great deals going on right now.  Let’s help some children have the tools they need to be successful in school.  This year is going to be entirely different for them, worrying about having the things they need to do their work should not be part of their day.

I have attached a flyer that reminds you of where to drop off the supplies and when they are open.  Also a list of supplies that are needed.  Please make sure all supplies are new, as we cannot give used or old supplies to the schools.

If you can pass this information on to others in your neighborhood, workplace, church, etc. it would be greatly appreciated.  The more people who know about this and donate new school supplies the more items we can take to the schools in the area.

A big Thanks goes out to Eagle Creek Park for continuing to be a partner with me on this!  I know a lot of teachers, staff, students, and others appreciate Eagle Creek Park for this as well!

Sincerely,

Janice McHenry
