Dandy Trail over I-74

Dear All,

Below is some very important information from INDOT (Indiana Department of Transportation) about the bridge replacement on Dandy Trail over I-74. I have been trying to get the information for this project for over a month, but had not received anything until today. I know many of us had already seen the sign saying that Dandy Trail will be closed on April 1st, which scheduling is confirmed below. The bridge is scheduled to reopen the middle of September. Both closing and opening could change due to weather. It seems that also during that time there will be four nights in which I-74 will be closed to remove beams and put in the new beams.

I do believe that there is a typing error in the detour. I think that it should read, “the official detour will be 34th Street to High School Road to Crawfordsville Rd.” as 14th Street would be almost 2 miles south of this project and is not a through street.

Hopefully this information is extremely helpful to many of you, especially those who either use Dandy Trail on a daily or frequent basis, as well as those who the detour will effect due to traffic. Please feel free to pass this information on to others who may be interested and not receive this information.

Sincerely,

Janice McHenry
