Trash Pick-up

Dear All,

Just a reminder that all trash pick-up and heavy trash pick-up will be delayed one day this week (please see below).  So, Monday will be picked up on Tuesday, Tuesday on Wednesday, and so on until Saturday. If you live in the City trash pick up area and have recycling, it too will be delayed.  However, those of you who have RAY’S RECYCLING, it will be picked up on your normal recycling day – as Ray’s does not operate on a slide schedule.  Since they are picking up every other week now, I felt this was important to know.

Those of you who do not currently have curbside recycling or don’t know where to take your glass, plastics, cans, and paper, I have attached the information from the City on where you may take items to recycle on our side of Marion County or how you can subscribe to home pick-up.  There is one Recycling Drop-off Location that is actually in our district (Kroger at Speedway Shopping Center – just south of the store in the parking lot), but there are two others that are close (Kroger on the northeast corner of Country Club Road and Rockville Road and Kroger at on the southwest corner of 71st Street and Georgetown).  Ben Davis High School also has two containers that take all your recycling on the north side of the school.  It is best to take things there after school hours and on weekends when the north gate is open and you can drive straight to the containers.  If you go during school hours you do have to go to their main entrance at the stop light and tell the security guard why you are there.  This does help the school raise some money.  I would like to encourage everyone to recycle – it really does make a huge difference on the amount of trash you have as well as a big impact on our environment.

Have a great weekend!  Please be patient and plan according as you are driving before and after the race tomorrow on many of our main streets in the district and the interstates.

Sincerely,

Janice McHenry
City-County Councillor District 6

TRASH AND HEAVY TRASH WILL OPERATE ON A SLIDE SCHEDULE NEXT WEEK

INDIANAPOLIS– The Indianapolis Department of Public Works (DPW) would like to remind all Marion County residents that curbside recycling, residential and heavy trash will operate on a slide schedule next week in observance of Memorial Day on Monday, May 29.
There will be NO residential trash, heavy trash or curbside recycling service on Monday, May 29. All routes will operate on a slide schedule. Services for the week will be delayed by one day through Saturday, June 3.  All services will return to normal schedules Monday, June 5.

Just a reminder for those of you who have Ray’s Recycling.  Ray’s does not operate on a slide schedule for Memorial day and their curbside recycling pickup service should remain the same.
