Town Hall Meeting

Dear All,

As you are aware, I wanted to have this Town Hall Meeting before the Council voted on the proposal.  Unfortunately, that did not happen, but Dr. Caine is still coming out to our Town Hall Meeting on Monday, June 25th from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan Community Center located 2950 N. High School Road.  The Council did pass the Safe Syringe Access and Support (SSAS) Program with a 24 – 0 vote.  Dr. Caine will be changing her presentation somewhat, as she will be talking more about the program, how they plan to implement it, as well as the details that led up to this being brought to Marion County at this time.

I certainly did appreciate everyone in District 6 who took time to reply to my survey by letting me know how you would vote, as well as the many well thought out comments on this topic.  I thought you would like to know the results of the survey, which will help you to understand why I voted the way I did.

  • Yes – 71.6 %
  • No  – 20.7 %
  • Undecided/mixed opinions/questions – 7.5 %

I felt that I really had a cross section of the district, with representation from all parts of the district and various neighborhoods.  Thanks to everyone who took part, as this certainly helps me in representing you when I know your opinions.

Please do help me get the word out about this Town Hall Meeting.  I am really going to have to rely on those of you who receive this email passing it on to your neighbors.  Due to the heat and rain I have not been able to pass out as many cards as usual.  If your neighborhood did not get a yellow card yet from me, most likely you will not.  I still plan to be out, weather permitting, but time is short and the weather forecast does not look good.  If your neighborhood has not had a card from me on this, and you could help pass out cards in your neighborhood, please let me know as I will make sure you get the cards.  Thanks, too, to everyone who has been helping me with distributing the cards.  It is such a huge help and tremendously appreciated!

Hope to see many of you next Monday.  It will be a great time for you to ask questions and also share some of your ideas on what may make this program better.

Sincerely,

Janice McHenry
