Dear All,
I hope that you will join me in thanking our men and women who work so hard each day to protect us and try to keep our City safe. When you see a police officer, please take time to say “Thanks for what you do.” This can be in your neighborhood, at a store, restaurant, school, park, or wherever else you see one of our officers. It really does mean a lot when someone takes time to thank people for what they do.
There are many things that our Northwest District does for us. Two activities that they have on a monthly basis are “Coffee With a Cop” and “Task Force Meetings”. The next “Coffee With a Cop” will be on Tuesday, May 21st, from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at Georgetown Market located 4375 Georgetown Road. These do change locations throughout the district each month in order to bring this closer to different neighborhoods. This is an opportunity for you to talk with the officers as well as Commander Lewis, get to know them, and ask them questions you may have. The other is the “Task Force Meeting”. These are always the first Wednesday of the month from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Northwest District Headquarters located 3821 Industrial Blvd. There is a speaker each month on various topics. The next one is on June 5th and will talk about Mental Health Wellness. Please see attached flyers for more information on both of these.
Remember, IMPD would be glad to do a Crime Watch presentation for your neighborhood, a group of neighborhoods, or a part of your neighborhood. There is so much that we can learn from them about making our homes and neighborhoods safer against crime. I do hope that if you have not invited them to an HOA Meeting lately or had a specific meeting for a Crime Watch, that you will consider doing it soon. Contact Kim Taylor, Crime Watch Specialist, for more information and to set something up. Her contact information is: phone – 317-327-6572 or email – Kimberly.Taylor@indy.gov.
Remember to say “Thanks” next time you see a police officer. Please feel free to share this information with others who live in the Northwest IMPD District.
Sincerely,
Janice McHenry
City-County Councillor District 6
