Clean-up

Dear All,

I’ve been watching the weather and Sunday, February 2nd, looks like a great day to do our first organized cleanup of 2020 and our second annual “Before the Super Bowl Community Clean-up”.  With temperatures predicted in the 50’s and sunny skies in the afternoon – sounds great to get outside and get a bit of exercise before indulging in food during the game as well as making a difference for the area.  We will meet at 1:00 p.m. in the parking lot at the Mayor’s Gardens (just south of 56th Street off of Reed Road) and work until 2:30 p.m., which still gives plenty of time to get ready to watch the “big game” and clean up along the greenway trail on Reed Road as well as 56th Street.

Trash bags, gloves, and trash reachers will be provided.  Several of us have started bringing 5 gallon buckets to our cleanups, as we have found they are easier to fill and then dump into trash bags rather than putting trash directly into bags.  I do not have extra buckets, so if you want to try this, please bring your own.  By working together we can make a difference!

Can’t make it Sunday, but would still like to help clean up an area?  Or maybe you would like to help other than through organized cleanups?  I would like to encourage everyone when you are out walking to take a plastic grocery bag with you.  Fill it up and then take it home and put it in your trash.  If everyone did that when they walked, ran, walked the dog, etc., we would not see the amount of trash and debris along our streets and roadways.  I know that many of you do this already, and it does make a difference.  This is a way that we all can make a difference on a regular basis.

Hope to see many of you on Sunday, February 2nd, at 1:00 p.m. for our second annual “Before the Super Bowl Community Clean-up”!

Sincerely,

Janice McHenry

P.S.  This is going out to those of you who have helped with cleanups before and some other select individuals.  I would like to encourage you to forward this to others who may be interested, especially those of you on HOA boards to your lists of  residents.  Thanks so much for helping to spread the word!

Let’s “tackle” the trash!
