Dear All,
Can you believe that school will be starting in just a couple of weeks? You have probably noticed that all the stores have their school supplies out and are beginning to run sales on many of the items.
Eagle Creek Park is going to be a partner again this year by being the drop off location for our annual “Back to School Supply Drive”. Now through August 15th, you may drop off items at either the Earth Discovery Center inside the park Monday – Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., or at the Eagle Creek Park Office outside the park at 7840 W. 56th Street from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday – Friday. You do not need to go into the park to drop off items at the park office.
Schools have a big need for these supplies. Many families cannot afford to purchase these items for their children. Children move after the school year starts, and many times enroll in a school without bringing any supplies with them. And there are always those supplies that get used up, broken, lost or need to be replaced. Having these things in the office helps teachers and other staff make sure children have the “tools” they need to do their best work and feel better about their school day. Be as generous as you can with your donations, as everything will be put to good use by the schools that they will go to. These schools are always so appreciative whenever I deliver a couple of big boxes to them.
Supplies do need to be new items. This is important due to safety regulations. Items that are needed are: Boxes of Crayons (24 or less), Pencils, Glue and Glue Sticks, Pens, Folders, Notebooks, Scissors, Highlighters, Markers (both thick and thin), Colored Pencils.
Thanks in advance for your generosity with this project. Also, I would really appreciate your help in getting this information out to others that you know who may want to participate in this very worthwhile project. I have attached a flyer with more information. Please feel free to forward it, this email, or print off the flyer and post it if you have a place that would be helpful for others to see this information, or any other way to share with others about the “Back to School Supply Drive”.
Sincerely,
Janice McHenry
P.S. Thanks again to Eagle Creek Park for continuing to be a partner with this!
