Saturday was a beautiful day for a tree planting on the Eagle Creek Trail between the “Bear Overlook” and Raceway Road. There were 74 native to Indiana trees planted all along both sides of the trail. A large group of volunteers turned out. A lot of the volunteers were students, many of them from Butler University as this group is.
Volunteer Ed Locke is starting to dig a hole for our third tree we planted.
As Ed and I were just finishing up with getting ready to put the guard around the tree we had just planted, someone had us pose for this picture.
As the tree planters were finishing up a group of young scouts came out. They learned about tree planting and the benefits of trees. Then the scouts helped by picking up the buckets, wrapping, and other trash that needed to be taken away to be disposed of properly and also picked up other trash in the area.
What a difference these trees will make as they grow and offer many benefits to the area! Thanks to everyone who made this project happen!
