Dear All,
The redbuds and many other flowering trees are looking beautiful, there are pretty spring flowers that have been blooming for the past few weeks and are continuing to show us their lovely colors, but along most of our streets and roadways, on our bridges and other right-of-ways litter takes away from the wonders of spring. Many of our neighborhoods and other groups are coming together this month for the “Great Indy Clean Up” to make a difference. Mayor Hogsett is calling for 2017 to be the “Year of Clean”. I wanted those of you in District 6 to be aware of the Clean Ups in our District that I know about and plan on participating. I hope many of you will come out and help with one or more as well, especially if they are in your neighborhood area.

April 15th – The Islands Community. Starting at 9 a.m. Meeting just inside the Islands entrance off Dandy Trail.

If you would like any additional information on any of these cleanups, please let me know. l can provide you with contact info. I know that the people who are organizing these would love any additional help that they can get!
It is not too late to have a neighborhood or group sign up to do a cleanup. To learn more go to www.greatindycleanup.com or contact Lauren at Keep Indianapolis Beautiful (KIB). Her contact info is lwright@kibi.org or 317-264-7555 X 116.
Remember, if you cannot make any of these cleanups, you can always help make our area cleaner. Take a plastic bag from a store with you when you go out for a walk, to run, to exercise your dog, etc. and fill it up with trash. Put that in your garbage. If everyone would make a conscience effort to do this on a regular basis, we would be able to make a huge difference here in our area.
Hope to see many of you soon at one or more of the scheduled cleanups in our District!
Sincerely,
Janice McHenry
City-County Councillor District 6
