Dear All,
My next quarterly Town Hall Meeting is coming up on Monday, June 25th from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. It will be held at Flanner and Buchanan Community Center (building in back) located 2950 N. High School Road. I have invited Dr. Virginia Caine from the Marion County Public Health Department to be our guest speaker. Dr. Caine will be presenting information about the proposed Safe Needle Exchange Program for Marion County that will be coming before the Council in July. While there were two Public Meetings at the Health Department on this topic, I felt that many of you may not have been able to make those and wanted to make sure that you had an opportunity to hear her speak. This is a chance for you to learn more about this proposed program – the reason for it, how it will work, the cost, as well as ask questions of Dr. Caine that you may have.
I hope that many of you will join me and others from District 6 at this Town Hall Meeting. Invite a friend or neighbor to come with you. Please share this information with others who may not be receiving this email.
As you know I like to get cards out in as many of our neighborhoods throughout the district that I can. There are a lot of people who are not on my email lists or email list of those who forward this information. This is a huge task (we usually get out over 8,000 cards) and it does take a lot of volunteers to help. I really do appreciate my team of volunteers, because without them I could not cover as much ground. If you would like to help pass out cards in your neighborhood, please let me know. Or if you would like to help me pass out cards in other neighborhoods, I would welcome the company. It is great exercise! Just because cards have been passed out in your neighborhood, don’t think that more help is not needed. The more volunteers the better!
Onto another topic – potholes in neighborhoods. Finally DPW is getting into neighborhoods to fill potholes. I have even heard from a couple of you that your neighborhood has had theirs filled. DPW was not able to work as quickly as they had hoped in getting into neighborhoods due to the late snows and freezing/thawing temperatures along with spring rains. With that being past (except now we are getting rain again) they will be in neighborhoods. Please report any and all potholes in your neighborhood (or on other City streets) to the Mayor’s Action Center (MAC) at 317-327-4622 or use the app on your phone. They must be reported to the MAC in order to be on the list to be filled. While I do write down potholes that I see when I am in various neighborhoods as well as the other streets, I have to turn them into the MAC first too. If you do have potholes that have been turned in and after a reasonable amount of time they are not being filled, please do let me know and I can do a follow up. Just remember they do need to be reported to the MAC first.
Hope to see many of you at my Town Hall Meeting! Do report those potholes so we can get them filled!
Sincerely,
Janice McHenry
